Did you know - we now use a drone as part of our surveys?

One of the biggest challenges when carrying out a home survey is inspecting parts of a property that simply can't be seen safely from the ground. Roof coverings, chimneys and high-level rainwater pipes are often difficult to inspect in detail without specialist access equipment.

That's why Hill Home Survey now uses a small drone-mounted camera as part of our Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys where it is safe and appropriate to do so.

The high-resolution camera allows us to obtain close-up images of roofs and other high-level features that would otherwise be impossible to inspect properly from ground level. This has made a significant difference to the quality of our surveys, helping us identify defects that might previously have gone unnoticed.

Problems such as slipped or damaged roof tiles, deteriorating chimney pointing, defective flashing, blocked or leaking gutters and damaged rainwater pipes can often be seen much more clearly from above. Identifying these issues before you buy gives you a better understanding of the property's condition and can help you avoid unexpected repair costs after you move in.

High level photography can also help give our clients a better idea of issues in the surrounding area that might affect the property they are buying.

Of course, not every property is suitable for a drone inspection. We always operate safely and in accordance with the relevant regulations, and the use of the drone will depend on factors such as the location, weather conditions and surrounding environment.

At Hill Home Survey, we're always looking for ways to improve the service we provide. By combining traditional surveying experience with modern technology, we're able to provide an even more thorough assessment of the properties our clients are buying - occasionally we might also find Barbie hiding in the gutter.
